Over 1,000 stranded tourists evacuated in landslide-hit Sikkim, 1,800 others await rescue

Around 1,100 tourists stranded in Chungthang, North Sikkim, due to landslides were evacuated by authorities on Friday. Approximately 1,800 more tourists are awaiting rescue from Lachung and Lachen. Roads to these hill stations are blocked by mudslides, and tourist permits have been suspended until further notice as rescue operations continue.
