Allow the city to unfold at neighborhood pace
Mexico City rewards focused days. The historic center can hold a full day; Chapultepec deserves another; Roma and Condesa work as a walkable food-and-architecture pair. Trying to connect distant headline sights between every meal usually produces a rushed experience.
A five-day shape
Begin with Centro Histórico, dedicate day two to Chapultepec, spend day three in Roma and Condesa, make day four a southern route around Coyoacán, and reserve day five for Teotihuacán, Xochimilco or a deeper neighborhood day.
- •Book any capacity-limited museum before building the day around it.
- •Leave extra time during the first day if you are adjusting to altitude.
- •Choose busy, well-reviewed food stalls and follow local hygiene cues.
Use transport deliberately
Metro and integrated transport can be efficient, while ride services or authorized taxis may be useful for specific evening or cross-city journeys. Check current official guidance and make safety decisions based on time, location and local conditions.
