The nearest airport is not always fastest
JFK often suits Brooklyn, Queens and rail-connected Manhattan trips; LaGuardia can be efficient for parts of Manhattan and Queens; Newark can work well for western Manhattan and New Jersey. Terminal, arrival time, luggage and service disruption matter as much as straight-line distance.
Compare the entire door-to-door trip
Price the airport connector, rail fare, transfers and final walk. A cheaper flight can lose its advantage through a difficult late-night arrival. Use official taxi queues and decline unsolicited rides inside terminals.
- •Map the exact hotel, not “Manhattan.”
- •Check weekend service changes.
- •Allow extra time for international departure.
- •Use accessible-route tools when lifts matter.
Keep a disruption backup
Save official airport and transit links, a licensed taxi option and the accommodation address offline. Severe weather and major events can alter every mode.
