Use three bases, not a race across the country

Spend four nights in Rome, three in Florence and three in Venice. This produces nine full or partial sightseeing days after arrival, with only two intercity moves. Book high-speed trains between city centers and keep major museum reservations separate from travel windows.

A balanced ten-day route

Days one to four cover ancient Rome, the historic center, Vatican City and one neighborhood-led day. Days five to seven move to Florence for Renaissance art, markets and a Tuscan day option. Days eight to ten belong to Venice, including its lagoon context beyond the busiest central path.

  • •Rome: four nights for scale and recovery from arrival.
  • •Florence: three nights with one flexible regional day.
  • •Venice: three nights so early mornings and evenings become part of the trip.

Reserve the bottlenecks

Prioritize official tickets for the Colosseum area, Vatican Museums, Uffizi or Accademia, and any capacity-controlled Venice experience. Avoid filling every morning and afternoon with timed entry; the streets and neighborhoods are essential parts of each city.
