Build in recovery and transfer time
Use three nights in Delhi, one or two in Agra, three in Jaipur and three in Udaipur, with remaining time assigned to arrival and the longest transfer. Road and rail journeys can take longer than the map suggests, so avoid attaching a major monument reservation to every travel day.
Follow the history west
Delhi introduces imperial capitals and modern India; Agra centers Mughal architecture; Jaipur adds planned-city, observatory and Rajput court history; Udaipur slows the route around lakes, palaces and Mewar heritage.
- •Reserve high-demand trains as soon as plans are stable.
- •Use registered guides and transport.
- •Carry water and plan around heat.
- •Dress and behave respectfully at religious sites.
Choose depth over extra cities
Adding Jodhpur, Varanasi or Mumbai to twelve days produces a different trip and usually requires flights or fewer nights in each base. Keep this route focused, then extend only when the total trip reaches two weeks or more.
